April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

National

This is a time to come together to prevent child abuse by raising awareness, supporting families, and strengthening our communities. When we invest in prevention, we create safe, nurturing environments where every child has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

During Child Abuse Prevention Month, pinwheels serve as a symbol of hope, representing the desire for happy, healthy childhoods and the shared effort to prevent abuse and neglect. Their playful nature reminds us of the bright futures every child deserves and the importance of creating safe, supportive environments for all children.

This year, Wear Blue Day is Friday, April 4 — and we invite you to join Camelot Community Care by wearing blue to show your support for preventing child abuse.

Also, speak up for children on Digital Advocacy Day, which is Wednesday, April 9. Contact your legislators and support policies that prevent abuse and strengthen families. Find yours at www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative.

Child Welfare Case Management

Camelot’s Child Welfare Case Management teams work daily with families to address safety concerns and build long-term stability—supporting over 700 children each day as they move toward reunification or permanent placement.

Family Reunification

Supporting parents with counseling, resources, and skill-building to safely bring their children home, Camelot helps hundreds of families each year—reuniting 163 children with their biological families and placing 19 children with their forever families through adoption in a single year.

Independent Living Services

Camelot equips youth aging out of foster care with the skills and support they need to break the cycle of trauma and build stable futures—empowering over 78% of participants in the Independent Living Program to earn their high school diploma or GED.

Treatment Foster Care

Camelot provides specialized care for children with emotional or behavioral needs due to past trauma. Through our Treatment Foster Care program, we recruit, train, and license Therapeutic Foster Parents who offer structured, nurturing homes with essential therapeutic support. In one year, we licensed 25 homes and delivered over 53,000 days of care.

Camelot’s services and figures highlight a strong commitment to preventing child abuse and neglect by providing comprehensive support for children and families—working to respond to abuse and, more importantly, trying to help stop it before it starts.
